Speculative artefact - object without a function

Speculative design project which questions humanities mark we leave behind. A message send out in to the world without the purpose or any intention of receiving. A new form of communication where the sender is unequal to the receiver.
As part of the Honours course 'Matter of Art' and a collaboration between the KABK royal academy of arts and the TU Delft. The project started with a speculative assignment to design an object without a function.

The design reference is graffiti left on the walls to mark your presence and the black box of airplanes. Everything is recorded and stored, however the data and recordings are not intended to be heard by the makers.

The case is non stop recording the surrounding audio through its microphones. Each cycle of recordings are stacked audio files on top of each other. Everything is heard and stored safely inside the box. Creating a log of that specific point in time.
What is our humanities mark we leave behind? Is it all just noise? A message send out in to the world without the purpose or any intention of receiving.
Only when the box detects there is no-one around, it will re-produce the sounds and recordings through its speakers.
